Martha Proctor is a glass artist, jewelry designer, and sculptor based in Western Massachusetts. She began lampworking in 2003, and works primarily in borosilicate glass. Martha uses the finest quality semi-precious gems and precious metals in her jewelry; as well as incorporating her unique lampworked beads into many of her original designs.
Martha started selling her elaborate woven bead necklaces to galleries in London and Boston in 1988. A Wellesley College graduate with a major in studio art, she studied the traditional methods of lost-wax bronze casting as well as stone carving, drawing and painting. Her approach to glass craft is inspired by her fine art background. In her current work, Martha strives to unite her studies of the figure, landscape, and principles of color theory with her creations of functional art and adornment.
